Best Of 2008: 6 Words For 66 Songs (#1-22)

Bernd Nies

Kicking off my Best Of 2008 Review with my favourite 66 songs of the year, coming at you in three installments (this is what all the cool music websites do, but it’s also because I’m only finished writing up 22 of them and haven’t finished my albums write-ups at all.  This is maybe what the cool music websites are doing, too — gaining time).  Each song includes a 6 word description (no more or no less, I hope); these are sometimes poignant descriptions but are mostly just a way for me to add a little bit of fun to an otherwise straight listing of songs.

I realize my whole method here brings about a Toby Flenderson reference, but it just kind of fell into place so I’m rolling with it.  And also, I realize that a lot of the songs here are songs which I’ve already talked about in previous blog posts and shit — so, yea, it’s a bit redundant but it only makes logical sense.

I didn’t bother to post links to each individual song, but you can certainly find each song here.  Alternatively, you can download these 22 songs together as a .zip file here (and let me know if this link stops working so I can re-upload it).

Please note that these songs are listed in no particular order.

Yea, Alderaan is a serious track. I still don’t get the “silver pylons in the sun” lyric though. Thoughts?

what about communication towers… they can be pylons… perhaps the lyric refers to the inability to send a msg to her (i.e. get it through to her) because of the metaphorical silver pylons in the sun… where they couldnt function? stretch? maybe?
maybe it is just descriptive of Alderaan landscape?
