Best Of 2009: Top 50 Songs (#21-30)

Third day of my top 50 songs of the year!  See the previous 20 in the previous blog post.  The remaining 20 are coming up tomorrow and Friday.  Woot.

As stated before, I don’t have my server up.  I’ve uploaded these 10 songs as a .zip file here.  You can probably find 95-100% of these songs on the internet at places like The Hype Machine or on Blip.  Or you can ask me for them.

Songs appear in no particular order.

21.
“Lust For Life”

by Girls

Manic-depressive.  Summer.  San Francisco.

22.
“Knotty Pine”

by Dirty Projectors & David Byrne

Two years straight for Byrne as cameo.

23.
“Tegucigalpa”

by Fruit Bats

Indie-rock and storytelling.

24.
“Golden Phone”

by Micachu

Creative sighing.  Oh and okay the beat pwns.

25.
“Idiot Heart”

by Sunset Rubdown

Take Spence’s advice on dancing.  It’s accurate.

26.
“Future Perfect Tense”

by Sweet Billy Pilgrim

Grammar tense title.  I can get into this.

27.
“Shampoo”

by Elvis Perkins In Dearland

If only the whole album could be this convincing.

28.
“Twenty Cycles To The Ground”

by Molina & Johnson

Hey, awesome folk accent for singing folk songs.

29.

Groove reminds of “Paper Planes.”  Snaps kill.

30.
“Ezekiel 7 & The Permanent Efficacy Of Grace”

by The Mountain Goats

Whoah, this is some No Country For Old Men shit.
