Best Of 2009: Top 50 Songs (#31-40)

Fourth day of my top 50 songs of the year!  See the previous 30 in the previous blog post.  The last 10 will be around tomorrow.  My top 20 albums of the year should be out on Saturday (hopefully).

As stated before, I don’t have my server up.  I’ve uploaded these 10 songs as a .zip file here.  You can probably find 95-100% of these songs on the internet at places like The Hype Machine or on Blip.  Or you can ask me for them.

Songs appear in no particular order.

31.
“O! Grace”

by Magnolia Electric Co.

A bit jazzy with the sax; still a great starter.

32.
“My Girls”

by Animal Collective

Still here, even after the hype and the year end.

33.
“I Felt Stupid”

by The Drums

Brace for tweepact at the chorus.

34.
“Berkeley Bumper Stickers”

by The Church Animals

Organ-squeal behind soft-spoken duet.

35.
“Hazel”

by Junior Boys

Another triumphant R&B dance jam from them.

36.
“Transmitter Failure”

by Jenny Owen Youngs

Love the orchestral/frenized opening turned quiet.

37.
“Zero”

by Yeah Yeah Yeahs

“Hysteric” is the new “Maps.”  This is magic.

38.
“Pyramid”

by Bombadil

Bounds about with pan-flute and charged chorus.

39.
“Into The Shadows Of My Embrace”

by Why?

Hits the perverse here, but what a pop song!

40.
“Surf Solar”

by Fuck Buttons

Inescapable groove.  Dance to this, even.
